Croatia Itinerary is a travel focused website created for people who want to discover Croatia beyond a simple list of places to visit. The website brings together national parks, major holiday destinations and activities, giving visitors an easy way to explore the country based on their interests.
Fiksie approached the project as a custom WordPress development rather than adapting an existing theme. The goal was to create a polished, fast and accessible travel experience where navigation feels natural and finding the right destination takes as little effort as possible.

The website was built around a completely custom WordPress theme, using Bootstrap 5 as its foundation for responsive development. Rather than starting with unnecessary features from a pre built theme, we developed the interface around the actual requirements of the project.

How do you make a travel website with a large amount of destination content easy to explore? We organised the experience around the interests of the visitor.
National parks, holiday destinations and holiday activities are clearly separated, while a custom mega menu provides quick access to the main areas of the website. The navigation was designed to reduce unnecessary clicks and help visitors move naturally from inspiration to a destination they want to explore.
Performance, Accessibility and Web Design
A travel website needs to work well wherever the visitor happens to be browsing. We therefore paid particular attention to website speed, responsive behaviour and accessibility throughout the development process.
The custom theme was kept lightweight and carefully structured to support fast load times without compromising the visual experience. The colour scheme and interface were developed as part of the wider web design process, creating a pleasant and readable environment that supports longer browsing sessions.
